Thom has been playing punk, hardcore and metal for over 25 years. As a bassist he has played with acts as diverse as the seminal power violence band Rorschach and the breathy, relaxed King Black Acid. Currently Thom plays bass in Kiss It Goodbye and drums in Triplehorn. Also Thom writes novellas (little books, or long short stories) about bands that have happened to him.

Before playing in Rorschach and Kiss It Goodbye, Thom played in a band called Evil Dean. Anyone who has ever been on tour knows what “merch” means, but Evil Dean may have been the only band selling medical grade nitrous oxide out of their van along the way. Black Flag, The Grateful Dead, The Indian and The Blue fish is the first in a series of novellas from Thomnak chronicling the bands he played in over the last 25 years. While the second novella is a window into the extraordinary dynamics between the five players in Rorschach, Thom’s first novella gives us insight into what a bizarre idea it was for him to join Rorschach in the first place. If the other members of Rorschach could have read this book beforehand, they probably wouldn’t have let Thom join the band.

Rorschach returns to the northwest after 20 years. First show is at El Corazon in Seattle with Great Falls and Heiress on August 19th. Second show is at Branx in Portland with Tragedy and Arctic Flowers on August 20th. California shows are in the works.
